Paul Shaviv Selected as Next Head of School
Ramaz is very pleased to announce that Mr. Paul Shaviv has been selected as the new Head of School beginning in the 2012/13 school year.

Mr. Paul Shaviv
Mr. Shaviv, who has lived in North America for almost 20 years, was born and educated in the UK. He has B.A./M.A. degrees from Cambridge University in Architecture, and an M.Phil. from Oxford University in Medieval and Modern Jewish Studies. He has occupied senior positions in five Jewish schools on three continents, and in 2009 was awarded the Max M. Fisher Prize for Excellence in Jewish Education. From 1982 to 1990, he and his family lived in Israel, where he worked in the field of Jewish-Diaspora relations and educational and organizational consulting. He is the author of The Jewish High School: A Complete Management Guide (2009), and has taught, published, lectured, and broadcast widely on Jewish affairs, Judaism, Israel, Jewish history, and Jewish education. Mr. Shaviv succeeds Judith Fagin, who will have served as Head of School from 2005-2012. Ms. Fagin announced last year that she would be stepping down, and chose to stay on as Head of School to ensure a smooth transition to her successor. She will be honored at the school’s 75th Annual Dinner on January 8, 2012.
We are delighted to have found in Mr. Shaviv someone who is so qualified for this critically important role, who is passionately committed to our school’s values and vision, and who is enthusiastic about joining our Modern Orthodox community. We are very fortunate that Mr. Shaviv desires to relocate to New York, and we hope that there will be an opportunity for the Ramaz community to meet him in the next few weeks.
